Advanced Comprehensive Exam, CBCT 3d Image, & Oral Scan
During your appointment, one of the Azar team members will perform a comprehensive examination of teeth, gums, and other oral tissues. In addition to a physical and visual exam, we will utilize diagnostic tools such as x-rays and CBCT scans to get a comprehensive assessment of our patient’s oral health. Aided by these technological advancements, professional dentistry can properly assess and diagnose oral health issues and can act in a largely preventative manner.
Tooth decay, gum disease, and other long term chronic dental issues are preventable with good oral hygiene, professional cleanings, and regular exams. An oral exam allows us to prevent or detect minor problems before they develop into major complications. Keep in mind, treatment will be less invasive and costly if we catch and address the problem earlier. If we do diagnose any problems, we may need to perform treatment.
The 3D Cone Beam CT Scanner is a crucial piece of hardware that allows us to accurately see every aspect of your mouth in a three dimensional image, making diagnosis as thorough and accurate as it has ever been. Using this technology we are also able to stimulate dental procedures on the computer, before even treating you – which is particularly beneficial for implants. With this technology, your dentist is now able to identify endodontic pathology, including potential fractures or other complications, that standard radiographs simply cannot show. This is truly the future of dentistry, and it’s available right here in Princeton, New Jersey.
CBCT scans are quick and simple to perform. A Cone Beam Imaging System is at the heart of the CBCT scanner. During the scan, the patient remains stationary while the scan is taken. The cone beams work by taking hundreds of pictures of the face in a short period of time and will then use these pictures to compile an exact 3D image of the inner mechanisms of the face and jaw. Your dentist is able to zoom in on specific areas and view them from alternate angles.
CBCT is an incredible tool that has improved our practice by minimizing the cost of dental treatment, reducing treatment time and enhancing the end results of dental surgery. This is a vast improvement compared to solely relying on the use of traditional X-rays. CBCT helps us in all phases of treatment, most importantly beneficial during the diagnosis phase.
